The journey begins in the Amazon when a tourist spills her peppermint mocha on a sloth. Fueled by caffeine and sugar, the sloth ventures to the North Pole and quickly sets to work wrapping gifts. Even the elves are impressed with his record pace. But alas, caffeine superpowers don’t last forever. The next morning, the sloth, stripped of his superpowers, finds a new home perched high in a spruce tree. He is content to simply watch Christmas magic unfold until a bulldozer threatens to take down his tree. Santa needs a bigger and better workshop, the elves need more space, the kids need more toys…except they don’t. The sloth, with three claws symbolic of the nativity, becomes a reminder of the need to be present and reflect of the greatest Christmas gift of all. While the sloth’s tree is ultimately saved, his job at the North Pole comes to an end. Now he seeks a new home with families across the world, families in need of a more relaxed and intentional Christmas. He becomes a fixture in a tree where he doesn’t need to move. play tricks or cause mischief. Instead his stillness reminds us all to look beyond the chaos and presents, to slow down and be present.
