Onelate night on his way home, Fisher Shoemaker, a 13 year old kid who lived in Trent Harbor Maine, witness two men shoving a large canvas sack into an old Chevy. Was it a dead body?He couldn’t be certain. But when the men noticed Fisher, they immediately chased after him! After that he was convinced.
Fisher, being scared for his life, sprinted through the dark of night straight to a place he knew he’d be safe; his hideout. His hideout was no ordinary hideout; he had added many ingenious booby-traps to keep bad guys out. The problem was; Fisher knew these guys were for real. It would only be a matter of time before they’d catch him and who knows what they’d do to him. He wasn’t going to hang out long enough to find out. He needed to get out of Trent Harbor fast and undetected!
Onthe coast of Maine, there are hundreds of island a boy could hide on. He remembered at the north side of town, in front of a fancy summer home, a beautiful little sailboat. Because the owners of the summer home were rarely there, the sailboat sat unused. No one would be the wiser if Fisher took the little sailboat in the middle of the night. It was to save his life, after all.
